I wasn't a fan of Emeralds previous efforts. No disrespect to the deceased Jvo Julmy but I could only stand his shrieking for 10 seconds. Unlike their previous 4 albums, Emerald have taken a shot in the arm when it comes to delivering an overall better production and they've found a stronger vocalist in Thomas Winkler. Not a masterpiece but the end result are songs that retain a Traditional Metal sense lyrically, a punchy rhythm section and is more appealing with songs that are focused on hooks like the riff centered 'Alteration'. No worries! There are even a few shrieks only this time spaced out so it doesn't drown out the rest of the album.
