Boring as hell
Deicide has been around for a good while now and have released some pretty solid albums over the years. In the Minds of Evil is not one of them. In fact it is boring as hell. The album as a whole in not the finest of the band's career. The songs featured on the album are not memorable in any way, shape or form. Each song bleeds into the other one almost and makes the album sound like one long, drawn out Satanic sermon. The lyrical content on here is the same on most of their albums but what is strangely absent are the crushing, groove heavy riffs that are trademark on the bands prior albums.
The songs lack a lot of catch to them and are pretty straightforward are pedantic. Benton's voice sounds pretty good still but even the Maestro of Evil can't help this album be any better than what it is. The band seems to be stuck in a rut and are releasing albums that sound all too similar to the last album that the band had put out. Hopefully the next album will show a return to form for the band but until then, avoid this album unless you are a diehard fan and want this one to maintain your collection of Deicide albums.
