Think of pork rinds with a riff and chug down a beer or two

If you're looking for a band that centers on sex, drugs, drinking, fighting, and rock & roll with a style mix of equal parts punk rock, southern metal, rock and psychobilly, then you probably already found it in Nashville Pussy. From Hell to Texas, Nashville Pussy's sixth studio album, released in February 2009, is true to the NP formula of the playing behind a wire fence, broken beer bottles flying in your face rock metaphor and sound.

The core lineup of Nashville Pussy consists of husband-and-wife duo Blaine Cartwright and Ruyter Suys and drummer Jeremy Thompson with this is our third try bassist Karen Cuda who debuted on the cd Get Some.

NP received a Best Metal Performance Grammy nomination for their song "Fried Chicken And Coffee" from their debut release, Let Them Eat Pussy (1998, The Enclave) but since then has remained fairly underground with a core base of fans and a heavy festival touring schedule. NP makes your mother blush and makes no apologies.

From Hell to Texas demonstrates that Cartwright may not be the strongest vocalist but he makes up for it in attitude which can be said for the band overall as NP is best seen live. To that end, any cd is going to be hard pressed to capture the Mr. and Mrs. Nasty feel that NP waves the flag for...American Dog comes to mind as does Nugent if he was less censored and more tanked.

Nonetheless, NP is a cultivated taste, and From Hell to Texas is not a huge departure from the NP sound – it is also not for everyone. If you are not a fan, it takes some getting used to but if you think of pork rinds with a riff and chug down a beer or two, you'll be just fine.
