Triumphant sophomore rebound
One could argue that 'Back to the Front' was such a horrible first step for life after Entombed that most seemingly dismissed the band and its future. Thankfully Petrov and his crew of former Entombed mates came clean and admitted that their hearts really weren’t in the first effort. As complacency riddled the group's first album, 'Dead Dawn' is a triumphant sophomore rebound that gains solid footing on what was essentially the Entombed era. The down-tuned fuzzy guitars and production values courtesy of Big Island (drastically improved upon Studio Bohus) are a welcome return and the overall intensity in the groovy runs is important in the formula. While this isn't 'Wolverine Blues' 2.0, it still has that forged in the fire work ethic that burns out the competition. Entombed A.D. have indeed put 'Back to the Front' to the back burner. 'Dead Dawn' for life.
