The beginning of the new album by Arkheth held some serious promise, with the dulcet sound of a saxophone and jazzy drumming kicking things off before sliding in to some well executed black metal. But as you move through the album, things get a little repetitive. While eschewing the verse-chorus format, the album follows a jazzy section heavy with saxophone followed by black metal passages. There are times where it feels like the tracks wander off the path into the void only to re-emerge later where they deviated. Fans of the experimentally weird black metal will find plenty to enjoy on this one.
