Starting off with a soothing blend of melodic traditional Native American flutes by William Clark, PEACE PIPE has a wonderful Native American sound that I really enjoyed, being the Native American Music fan I am. But then you're thrust into a track called GOD LOVES EVERYBODY that has strong drum and guitar riffs, almost sounding rock-ish. However, the lyrics aren't quite matched to the song, and they sound more country or 70's rock-a-billy. There is a strong Christian influence to be heard in a few songs and an underlying 'back-to nature' message. LET IT GO, attempts to rock out, but the motorcycle sound effects aren't very realistic; I actually thought the CD was messing up. TIME TO SAIL is a sweet love song about memories of a lover lost, which seems to be the tone for the entire album, sweet and a bit mournful. Brother Hawk does have potential and all the makings of a great band; a southern rock band like Blackfoot or maybe Marshall Tucker. It just doesn't show very well on this album. The vocals seem a bit flat and more suited to maybe country, this was nothing to get excited over. But if you like the sounds of the late 60's early 70's then perhaps you should pick this up, but be warned this isn't for everyone. --GLITTERGIRL 03.16.06 ALL REVIEWS FOR: BROTHER HAWK
