Rough on taste, but likeableFormed in 1999 and currently a part of the Southern Illinois music scene, Zaius' 3-song demo, featuring rough mixes of songs from their forthcoming LP, is cheap coffee, cigarettes, and warmed over beer. It's unrefined and bitter jolt mainly coming from the scraggly lead vocals of Kevin Kepple--Lemmy would probably ask him if he needed a lozenger.
The fuzzed-out, deep guitars of Lance “Lunch” Curby groove along the likes of Clutch and the others relegated to the underappreciated stoner-doom genre. Zaius would fit well at motorcycle festivals combining their malt liquor rock with the rumbling of exhaust pipes and horsepower.
Zaius is rough on taste, but likeable for those with a hardy constitution.
Bottom Line: How appropriate to have Steve McQueen pictured on the disc.
1. Harvest Moon Overdrive (a.k.a. Bridget)
2. Mississippi Pirates
3. Badass Steve
