I've been anxiously awaiting the new Sinner album, "There Will Be Execution", for months now. I have been reading everywhere that this will be the "comeback" record for this great German hard rock band.
I'm not really sure if you can classify There Will Be Execution with any of the band's previous work. This new offering mixes power thrash with the bands trademark hard rock sound. The combination proves very lethal, leaving myself and surely every other listener a severe case of whiplash. Every track on this disc is pure devestation. This is a crushing guitar frenzy that executes on every level; great songwriting, exceptional leads, cannon-fire drums, and spectacular vocals. The band has reloaded with new members Fritz Randow (Saxon,Victory) on drums and axe-god Tom Naumann (Primal Fear) on guitar. Fans of speed, aggression, and melody will find plenty to like from this metal offering. Fast tracks like Higher Level Of Violence, Requiem For A Sinner, and Finalizer blast by like a bullet, while songs like Die On Command, Locked And Loaded, and Black Monday dish up a heavy wall-smashing groove that asks to be cranked louder and louder. The European version includes a second disc with two previously released tracks and a cover of Metallica's Wherever I May Roam. In my opinion, this record is on par with Sinner classics like Bottom Line and Judgement Day in overall quality, and is far better than the previous two duds the band has dished out. I would definitely say this is Sinner's comeback album. Lets hope it stays this good! Reviewed by --EC 2.5.03
