Craven Idol harken back to the early days of death metal with "The Shackles of Mammon". Mid-paced, chunky guitars are backed up by beefy bass and drums. The vocals are a mixture of death and thrash style shrills that compliment the music quite well. There is some underlying thrash influences on several tracks as well, lending some extra gallop. The production is very natural and isn't as clean and crisp as most albums are these days. I feel like the production actually helps this album be more accessible and adds another old school touch to it.
