Not at all unlike any killer from random 70's/80's slasher flicks reeking havoc amongst its' unsuspecting victims, the one man audio slayer known simply as Razorthroat is once again back for yet another release. Bound to drop small animals in their tracks at full volume, "White Death" is an unrelenting do-it-yourself assault on the ears that will leave you hiding in the fetal position in the corner of a dark closet whilst vomiting up your own entrails.

The main changes apparent in "White Death" over the past two releases are few and far between. The fuzz guitar tone, a blast beating drum machine, curdling bass lines, sadistic lyrics, movie samples, horror themed song titles, and the home computer printed layout are all present and accounted for. Insane vocal stylings are still the same tag team chokehold of violent screams, strains, and dementia hounding the recording from start to finish, even on the Boyce and Hart scribed "Stepping Stone". So, what makes "White Death" really any different from "Razorthroat" or "Pig Blood Blues"? The songs contained within are Razorthroats most impressive collection of catchy horror anthems yet. While "Pig Blood Blues" was strictly a concept album in tribute to the Stephen King scribed book and 70's freakout flick "Carrie", "White Death" scrapes and pry's at every dark, moldy corner of the horror realm. It's hard for me not to appreciate a song inspired by 80's mine slasher "My Bloody Valentine", complete with samples from the film. The godfather of sleaze rock, GG Allin, even gets a nod when the classic "Bite It" gets poked, prodded, skinned alive, and left for dead. Although 18 tracks makes for an exhausting long battle from start to finish, "White Death" makes no apologies with over an hour's worth of one twisted individuals homage to all that is sick in this world and beyond.

Although a more produced album may never float raped and bloated to the surface, this current and past slaughters being the Razorthroat way, "White Death" is a worthy horror metal release. For fans of Mortician, Misfits, and the like...

Surrender your soul to Razorthroat and by day break, you just might survive. The most vile is yet to come.
