Note: Reviews are graded from 0-5, anything higher or not showing is from our old style. Scores, however, do not reveal the important features. The written review that accompanies the ratings is the best source of information regarding the music on our site. Reviewing is opinionated, not a qualitative science, so scores are personal to the reviewer and could reflect anything from being technically brilliant to gloriously cheesy fun.

Demos and independent releases get some slack since the bands are often spent broke supporting themselves and trying to improve. Major releases usually have big financial backing, so they may be judged by a heavier hand. All scores can be eventually adjusted up or down by comparison of subsequent releases by the same band. We attempt to keep biases out of reviews and be advocates of the consumer without the undo influence of any band, label, management, promoter, etc.

The best way to determine how much you may like certain music is to listen to it yourself.

The Greatest Band to come out of Finland. Fronted by Kimberly Goss (former keyboardist, and back up vocalist of Dimmu Borgir, also of Nuclear Blast) and joined by such magnificent talents such as guitarist (and Husband) Alexi Laiho (Children Of Bodom) and former member and Cofounder Jesper Strömblad (In Flames), Sinergy proves that a woman can and should be more than just some cheesy back-up singer or just a face in the crowd.

The second of 3 Nuclear Blast releases, To Hell And Back is a true masterpiece in every sense of that word. As far as sound, the only way I can classify the group is an in-your-face power metal with a taste of what an 80s metal sounds. If you don't own this CD, then let me ask why? You only like the "Hair metal" of the eighties. Guess what? you need to check out "Hanging On The Telephone." So you want a softer spoken ballad. Damn, got that too. It is called "Laid To Rest." You need something fast to get your adrenaline pumping, check out "Lead Us To War." Now, you see, there is something for everyone.

Kimberly can cover all spectrums of the power sound, so what is your excuse for not running out and getting a copy of it now? To much? I have found it for as cheap as $8. This is, in my opinion, the most solid, and greatest showcase of Sinergy's talents in one record. Check it out for Kimberly's vocal abilities if nothing else. You won't be sorry, guaranteed.

I put this in my top 10 of all time.
