Endless Voyage X
Those Whom Time Forgot
6/5/2017 - Review by: Greg Watson
Doomy black metal that is not meant for speed listening
Endless Voyage X' sophomore release "Those Whom Time Forgot" is an interesting monster. While using the genre of black metal as its base, the album tends to delve more into the doom metal realm with really slow, melancholic guitar that is backed by slowed down drumming and mournful vocals. I find that the slowing down of your typical black metal riff really lends more bleakness and cold atmostphere that black metal works so hard to channel. Another thing with the album is that in order to really appreciate what Endless Voyage is doing here, you have to listen to it from start to finish. You won't really gain a true appreciation for the work put into the songs if you just listen to one or two tracks and then move on. I quite enjoyed the album and the nuances used in creating this slower brand of doomy black metal and look forward to more releases from this band in the future.
