Note: Reviews are graded from 0-5, anything higher or not showing is from our old style. Scores, however, do not reveal the important features. The written review that accompanies the ratings is the best source of information regarding the music on our site. Reviewing is opinionated, not a qualitative science, so scores are personal to the reviewer and could reflect anything from being technically brilliant to gloriously cheesy fun.

Demos and independent releases get some slack since the bands are often spent broke supporting themselves and trying to improve. Major releases usually have big financial backing, so they may be judged by a heavier hand. All scores can be eventually adjusted up or down by comparison of subsequent releases by the same band. We attempt to keep biases out of reviews and be advocates of the consumer without the undo influence of any band, label, management, promoter, etc.

The best way to determine how much you may like certain music is to listen to it yourself.

Starting off, I just want to say that I have been a big Godflesh fan for some time now. As a listener of metal, I was always intrigued by the name Godflesh. Having finally picked one of their records up(a long time ago), I sat down and listened to it. I didn't like it. But as I said that was a long time ago.

Now when I listen to Godflesh, I zone out. Its not just music to me, as amptly put on their compilation, "In all Languages". Now don't think that this is a new release because it is not. This recording session was done at the time of Selfless, So its about 7 years old.

Here we have 4 tracks regular, and 4 tracks that are dubbed. The title track is of course the shining jewel, but the other tracks have a surreal feel to them as well. Now many people won't listen to godflesh because they feel that the beats are monotonous. If you just open up your mind and take the music as a whole instead of pieces then rest assured that you will like it and become a fan just as I have.

Rating 10 out of 10 (just remember that 4 tracks are dubs)
