Being a fan of the extreme metal scene, I'm always on the hunt for new blood and I happened to have the pleasure of coming across Comess. The band hails from Louisville, Kentucky, USA and have delivered one of the most punishing extreme metal releases I've heard in a while with their debut album 'Botched and Flailed'.

Hitting you with a wall of noise the size of a hurricane, the album is non-stop from start to finish and rarely gives you an instant to catch your breath. The majority of the songs are quick hitters that come in around the two minute mark but don't think the shortness will save you. It's like taking body blows for three minutes from Tyson. You will be bruised and begging for cessation by the time it is over.

The big takeaway I have after listening to this album several times over is the maturity and focus the band shows in their songwriting. Writing a one to two-minute track that needs to grab people by the balls isn't an easy thing to do. Comess however does it like an old pro and you can hear the thought and effort come through in each and every song. The album has heaviness that isn't used for just shock factor, the heaviness serves a purpose and has meaning. This is honestly one of the heaviest albums I've heard all year and I can't get enough of it. This album is going to turn some heads and rightly so.

Be prepared for the onlsaught about to beset your town. Because once Comess has been unleashed, they'll settle for nothing less than total annihilation.
