Band Endemise Title Anathema Type LP/EP Company Maple Metal YOR 2016 Style Black Popular Reviews Bizarre mix of metal makes this one a little cumbersome ![]() Canada's Endemise offer up symphonic blackened death metal that is just very similar to other acts out there. The vocals are a mix of death and black metal styles while the music is black metal with a symphonic background. It's not that "Anathema" is a terrible album, it has its moments of awesome, like the track "Procreator" with its wickedly cold riffs and its ice melting solo. But the issue I found myself having with the album is its redundant sound and it's striking similarity to other bands of this genre. "Anathema" just fails to deliver anything new and exciting to captivate interest for longer than a couple of songs.
