Highrider
Roll for Initiative
Company: The Sign
Release: 2017
Genre: Traditional
Reviewer: Eric Compton
Published: 10/3/2017

A wide array of sounds ranging from 70s rock, heavy metal, doom and hardcore
COMMENTS:
The fertile ground in Gothenburg, Sweden produced Highrider in 2013. The traditional act released an EP, 'Armageddon Rock', in 2016 and now follow one year later with their debut full-length, 'Roll for Initiative' courtesy of native Swedes The Sign Records. Highrider are difficult to describe due to their wide array of sounds ranging from 70s rock, heavy metal, doom and hardcore. An abundant keyboard sound is a bit campy and recalls early Blue Oyster Cult or even Goblin. Some fast hands behind the kit lift up these straight-laced riffs, biting with just a touch of punk velocity. It's unusual but entertaining.
