Hailing from the capitol of Denmark, Copenhage, VOLBEAT was formed in October 2001 by Michael Poulsen, who had previously head up the danish heavy metal band DOMINUS. DOMINUS was said to be Denmarks pride of metal. During the 10 years the band existed, Michael Poulsen and DOMINUS released 4 albums and 2 videos.

VOLBEAT is a new chapter in Michael Poulsens music career, with a new line-up, a different sound and especially a new style of music. Together with drummer Jon Larsen, (former member of MORATORIUM, The SCENT) Michael Poulsen wrote and composed 10 songs which would become the bands first demo.

Guitar player Teddy vang (former member of POST, COMMON DELUTION), and bass player Anders Kjølholm (former member of PINK APPLE, DOMINUS, NO SOLUTION) joined the band, and VOLBEAT recorded their first tracks at TAKE ONE STUDIO in Roskilde, Denmark, with producer Morten Nielson. Morten Nielson had never heard that kind of music combined with so many kinds of styles, and still keeping the red line. He said that VOLBEAT is a unique combination of metallic rock pop with a touch of the sixties rocknroll, that immediately catches your attention.

VOLBEAT's unique style of music has giving them great reviews and response to their live shows and radio appearances. Their first demo cd "VOLBEAT" has been out in some stores for free to promote that this band has something speciel and different to offer. A Swedish reporter from "Slavestate mag" once wrote, that if Elvis Presley had been singing and shakin' in MISFITS, it could have sounded like this. He also wrote that METALLICA should have hired VOLBEAT as song writers for the "Load" and "Reload" albums. These are big words for a small band of Denmark, but it also shows that the band has some serious goods to offer.

VOLBEAT has just been in studio with producer Jacob Hansen (www.jacobhansen.com) to record 6 new tracks. This new recording is entitled "Beat the meat", and there is a single out for the track "Soulweeper", which will be out in selected stores for free. VOLBEAT will perhaps also be working on a video for this track in the near future.
