When I first got the CD,  "grandiosity", from Sweden's Mother Misery, I thought it was going to be another disc of melodic death metal.  I gave it a whirl and I'll be damned if I wasn't hooked from the first song.  These guys, somehow put together a fantastic combination of loose guitars, a little Monster Magnet/Soundgarden riffage and the spirit of Steppenwolf into a sound that I've been looking for for awhile.   How the hell these Swedes incorporated the muscled sound of the American Midwest, I have no clue, but this debut could fit into any collection of good America hard rock.

The band has an aura of cool.  From the tats, to the skull rings, to the glory of a good ride; they offer you a seat on an easy ride and if you take it, that's great and if you don't then oh, well you missed out on the thrills.

From "My Enemy":

One look in your eye to kill me/ but I ain't your dog to die
One touch of your hand to teach me/ but I ain't you pig to ride.
Dont fuck around with me/ I'll break you in the seams.

Now, that's what I'm talking about.

Mother Misery first went under the name Nosedive and appeared on a couple of compilations. They also appeared on the compilation “unsigned for now” released by: Mighty Music (Denmark) along with issue #16 of Mighty Music Magazine.  Through the years they have grown together as a band and developed their own original sound under the influence of bands like Soundgarden, Monster Magnet, Black Sabbath etc.

At the moment, Mother Misery can only be bought at www.hotstuff.se, but go to their website at www.mothermisery.com and check out some of the samples they have posted.  Then send them a note that you want to get a copy of this sum bitch in Detroit, Tokyo or Rio or wherever you're at.
