Guardians of Time was formed in 1997 under the name A.T.A.W. with the following line-up: Bernt Fjellestad on vocals, Rune Schellingerhout on guitar, Paul Olsen on guitar, Tommy Viik on bass and Thomas Færøvig on drums. They rehearsed for about a year when a line-up change was necesarry in order to develop musically. Early ’98 Thomas and Tommy left the band and Dag-Ove Johnsen (bass) and Vidar Uleberg (drums) joined in, and the music was instantly taken to a higher level.

After many attempts to find the right band name, they ended up with "Guardians of Time". By the end of ’99 they felt their songs were strong enough for a professional level, and in Jan.’00 they recorded their first demo in Studio Sør, Kristiansand. The demo was entitled "Soul Reaper" and contained three songs. (Torn Apart, As the Morning Rise, Soul Reaper) In March ’00 Paul temporarily left the band to study music at Musicians Institute, Hollywood, C.A. During this year the demo was send to record labels and magazines and received very good reviewes.

G.O.T. caught the attention of the German Axel Thubeuville of Crazy Life Music. The production contract was negotiated and signed Nov.’00. Due to Paul’s absence the recordings of the debut album was not started until March the following year.

The 52 minutes long album "Edge of Tomorrow" was recorded in Dub Studio, Kristiansand, and released August 25th on Shark Records. The band played on the Quart Festival ‘01 (Norway) opening for Einherjer, and at Total Festivalen (Norway).
