The Necrofile

Heavy metal headbangers, it's me...it's me...it's Rod T. I'm pulling up to the drive with the top down, sprinting over to the mailbox this time to see who is asking what and why for this issue of Necrofile. As your cards, emails, and Ssssnail mail rolls in, good GAWD I am here to preach from my pulpit, referencing this massive metal cranium in high hopes of answering ALL of your precious pleas for assistance. So, this is how I roll.....

After EC's educational trip down memory lane in Maximum Metal's new colum Past, Present, Future, we have had a few emails regarding the first issue's spotlight on Hypocrisy. Melma from Planet Earth (smile damnit!) wants to know the whereabouts of original Hypocrisy vocalist Masse Broberg. Well I have often wondered the same thing and after many hours spent with coffee, cigs, and bright, early morning sunshine I have found the mysterious Masse. In 1998 Masse Broberg became the lead singer for blender band Dark Funeral. His "stage character" is Emperor Magus Caligula. He has been with the band since then, appearing on three releases thus far. NOTE - If I am recruited to sing harmony for Dark Funeral my stage name will be Count Bufford Pusser III.

Moving right along to Sammy 689 from Toledo, Ohio who wants to know if former Judas Priest vocalist and current Iced Earth singer Tim Owens is involved with any other side projects other than Beyond Fear. He goes on to ask if Tim Owens ever laid down vocals for the Ohio band Spawn. Well Mr. 689 I can help you out with all of your "Ripper" needs. NO, he is not involved with any other projects. His main goal now is to record the next Iced Earth album and to complete the US tour with Beyond Fear, who hit the road soon with Jon Oliva's Pain and Chris Caffery. Part two is NO, he never was involved with Spawn as a singer but he did produce their second album entitled Round Two, which by the way is an impressive metal slab. NOTE - Beyond Fear features former Spawn guitarist John Comprix. And yeah S-S-S-Sammy, I'm that damn good. Most of the time....

Okay some Canadian ass clown who doesn't want to be named (ohhhhh brotha) wants to know where former Annihilator drummer Ray Hartman is at these days. After many hours of public library research (my girlfriend spilled coffee mate all over my home computer) I have a response for you.....HOW THE FUCK WOULD I KNOW!?! How is that pony boy, Mr. I Don't Want To Be Named? How do you like that? You know sometimes I don't know everything, you can't just call on me to answer every damn stupid idea you get in your turd shaped head. What I do know is that Ray Hartman did play with two other bands besides Annihilator, Speeed in 1998 with former Annihilator singer Aaron Randall and the Canadian based Assault, who released "Survival In The Streets" sometime in the late 80s. I hate Canada. I hate nameless people. I hate bands that end in R. Moving right along....

Next email is from Tony Martin (the HEEAADDLLEESS CROSSSS) in Atlanta who is confused over the band Steeler. He asks, "I have heard people say that Yngwie Malmsteen played with the original Steeler with the Keel singer, but then I have read that this isn't true and that German guitarist Axel Pell played with the band instead. I have checked CD Universe and they show a Steeler band that has Ron Keel on vocals and Yngwie Malmsteen on guitar. When did Axel Pell replace Malmsteen and why? Okay Tony, you are an idiot man. This is so easy to sort out. Let me b-b-break it on down for ya brotha! This is really very simple and even YOU can understand it.

A) There are two bands called Steeler. Imagine that!

B) They BOTH feature young guitarists that have gone on to solo fame.

C) The American band Steeler was called Steeler. Just clearing that up.

D) The German band Steeler was called Steeler. Do you follow me?

E) The American band called Steeler featured Yngwie Malmsteen on guitar and Ron Keel (Keel, Iron Horse) on vocals. They released a self-titled album in 1983 before disbanding and moving on to bigger and better things.

F) The German band called Steeler featured Axel Rudi Pell on guitar....let me stop there...his name is not Axel Pell, that is just silly. His name is Axel Rudi Pell...RUDI....RUDI...don't leave out the RRUUUUUUDI, that is important. Who wants to go around not using their full name? Who wants to leave out a great name like Rudi? Nobody man, nobody. It is Axel Rudi Pell, and he was the guitarist. The singer was some jabroni that doesn't even matter. What does matter is that the German Steeler went on to release three records before disbanding, leaving Axel RUDI Pell to go on to solo fame, touring soccer stadiums all over Germany and Japan and banging tons of sex starved Axel Rudi Pell fans.

That is all for now. Tony Martin has taken up a majority of our time. We have no more time for mail during this issue. Stay tuned Rod Throwen followers, I open all of my mail and will be back soon to answer more of your questions. I promise you, my beloved readers, that I am here for you!
